Learning and Teaching
The academic life of Nudgee College is shaped by enthusiastic and highly-skilled teachers who are committed to bringing out the best in all of their students. This, combined with the rich diversity of subject offerings, innovative use of technology and state-of-the-art facilities creates an exceptional learning environment where all boys are able to grow, be challenged and thrive. In Australia, tertiary study falls into two categories: Higher Education (ATAR) and Vocational Education and Training (VET, also known as TAFE) (RTO 45968). The type of study your son chooses will depend on his career goals.
If your son’s dream is to be an engineer and build the next NASA spaceship, work on Wall Street as a stockbroker or become a lawyer fighting for justice in the courtroom, he would be best suited to an Australian Tertiary Entrance Rank (ATAR) pathway for direct entry into university.
If your son’s dream is to work in agricultural sciences, as a tradesman or in sports sciences, Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses lead to certification, work opportunities and education in a chosen field. Applied courses provide boys with a balanced education to prepare them for employment, further study and adulthood.
Regardless of the content of a subject, our boys are encouraged and taught to be critical thinkers, problem solvers, to create and innovate and to be able to communicate and collaborate. These are the skills required of them to succeed in life.
The staff at Nudgee College are committed to differentiating learning and teaching within their classrooms to meet the individual needs of every student; they recognise that some students may also need tailored support in order to progress and succeed. The provision of reasonable adjustments for students across Years 5-12 is managed by our Faculty of Inclusive Learning.
All senior courses and pathways are administered by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA). Graduates of the College receive a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).
