Tottenham Hotspur partnership
Nudgee College’s Football program will continue its relationship with English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur after securing a partnership renewal for three more seasons.
The partnership, which officially commenced in 2019, was the first of its kind in Australia and was launched by former Tottenham skipper and legendary defender Ledley King.
A London-based Tottenham Hotspur coach will be spending 36 weeks in Brisbane over the next three seasons to work full-time with the College’s Football program. Previous coaches who have taken up this role include Matheus Scapin and Donny Campaniello.
Player development and coach education are key elements of the partnership, which will also provide unique opportunities for Nudgee College students and staff to visit the Tottenham Academy in London.
In addition to Nudgee College players and coaches reaping the rewards of the development opportunities provided by the program, the extended Brisbane football community also benefit through junior training camps and skills sessions.
The College’s Director of Sport Mr Jamie Pybus, who was the Football Director when the partnership was initially formed, said football in South East Queensland can only benefit from initiatives like this one.
“Our drive is to give our students the best possible opportunities to grow as young men and be the best they can be, both on and off the sports field.”
With planning for the initial partnership beginning back in 2017, Jamie said the College is excited to enter the next phase.
“As we build on the foundations of the last few years we look forward to increasing the opportunities for our players and coaches, both here in Australia and at Tottenham in London,” he said.
“We will start this with a visit to the Academy for 30 of our players in December 2023 and will continue to grow these opportunities.”
