The College is looking to employ a caring and nurturing person to provide a parental figure to our boys while they are living away from home. Like all parents, the Boarding Parent provides a compassionate nature, guiding influence and a listening ear for the boarding students under their care.

Roster

This is a part time role with the following working hours:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Split shift of 6.30am to 8.30am then 2.30pm to 5.30pm
  • School term time only

This role commences 23 January 2025.  Handover period of 25-28 November 2024, if available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in development of Boarding house spirit and morale.
  • Assist with the collection and distribution of boarders’ mail.
  • Coordinate afternoon tea/dinner within the Boarding House.
  • Encourage and promote personal hygiene standards.
  • Monitor student activities and behaviours within the Boarding House.
  • Assume responsibility for general tidiness and basic housekeeping needs within the Boarding house.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and requisitions for the Boarding House.
  • Actively participate in Boarding activities.
  • Perform occasional tasks as allocated by the Head of Boarding House.

To be suitable for this role you must:

  • Relate well to students, other House Parents and Boarding staff.
  • Demonstrate commitment to goals and aims of Catholic education in the tradition of Edmund Rice.
  • Be professionally competent, ensuring that day-to-day behaviours and personal presentation reflect the school values and professional expectations.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and understanding in handling of sensitive personal matters.
  • Substantial knowledge of and experience in working with adolescent males.
  • Demonstrated excellence in working under pressure in collaboration with others in a team.
  • Highly developed communication and life skills.
